We just received a small quantity of Italian Vetterli Model 1870/87 factory carbines from Ethiopia. All carbines are chambered in the 10.4x47mmR cartridge. These carbines are very rare and have not been imported for decades. Don’t miss this chance to get a unique carbine!
These Vetterli carbines are in poor to fair overall condition. You may see some small cracks in the stock and finish wear as they are over 130 years old and have endured a long service life. Please note that some of these rifles may have Ethiopian handmade replacement stocks. Finish generally varies from 10% to 40%. Some surface rust and/or pitting may be present. These carbines have been in storage in Ethiopia for about century. May be missing some parts such as a front sight, sling swivel, barrel band, buttplate, etc. The carbines may or may not come with a cleaning rod. Bores range from poor to good. The bolt may be difficult to open and require further cleaning to be 100% functional. Please note that the sear spring may be broken and the firing pin/bolt may not stay cocked.
Please note: there are 2 different types of rear sights found on these carbines, the one shown in the photos is the longer type, however we also have the shorter rear sight leaf type.
These rifles are ANTIQUES, NO FFL REQUIRED. Photo of Driver’s License required. These rifles can be shipped directly to a business or home address.

3 reviews for C Grade Vetterli Model 1870/87 Carbine Caliber 10.4x47mmR

Ordered one of these with my expectations managed accordingly for a C-grade. I asked for one that was a factory carbine as opposed to a cut-down and that’s exactly what I got. A factory carbine from Brescia dated 1883 with sights intact. Stock has a crack with some separation on one side near the magazine, but it’s a clean break with no wood loss and should go back together nicely. Bore is dirty, but rifling is strong. Everything is there and nothing else is broken. I believe this one will clean up to be a respectable carbine.

Like the other “C” grades I’ve gotten, metal parts and bore are in pretty good shape but the stock is going to be a project unless I can get a source for another. I’d been wanting a carbine Vetterli for years so I grabbed one ASAP
