Description

C Grade Model 1888/90 Mannlicher Rifle

These guns come straight out of Ethiopia. The Model 1888/90 rifles are in poor to fair condition. Bores are generally poor to fair. The stocks will have dings, dents, scratches, wear and cracks with possibly some large cracks. Cracks in the stock are usually in the wrist area and/or near the buttplate. May have a missing piece of wood such as near the toe of the stock. The stocks may be a Ethiopian replacement stock. These rifles may also have some pitting or surface rust. The rifles often have a missing safety lever. Most are missing rear sight sliders as well. The rifles are generally not functional and will require work before they are functional. Many of the bolts are rusted in place, and some bolts have the bolt handle broken off. These guns are great as wall hangers and or parts guns. Some could be restored with some work or used for parts when restoring another 1888/90 or 1888/95 rifle. These guns are true, authentic pieces of history and should not be missing in any WW1 and Austro-Hungarian firearms collection. Please keep in mind that these guns are 130 years old and back then there were no “non Corrosive” primers available. Many of these rifles were used by the Austro-Hungarian military and have unit markings, as well as property markings of “AOI”, Africa Orientale Italiana, when the Italians claimed these weapons and used them from 1935 to 1941.

Please note the photo above is of an A Grade good condition 1888/90, the C grade rifles will have the issues listed above.

This is a great chance to get this historical rifle for your collection!

These rifles are considered Antique and therefore do not require any FFL Licenses. A government Photo ID like Driver’s License or passport will be required to purchase these rifles. Can be shipped to a home or business address. Please upload a picture of your ID at checkout.

So I have had a few of these. At 99, I think it is worth it, but when they raised the price all mine had bolt handles that were ripped off. While it is clearly in the ad and RTI didn’t do anything wrong they had B grades for 199 and those had working bolts. So I would recommend you go with a B grade.

I got one of the recent batch that was in pretty good condition. Only big issue was that the back of the butt stock was chewed by bugs, which I filled in as best as possible. The sight was missing the slider but it could still be manually adjusted. Overall pretty good for a C grade.

Got mine today. The entire finnish has been severely wire wheeled to the point there’s gouges along the lenth of the barrel, large chunk of stock broken out by the magazine housing, barrel band screws aren’t correct, bore is a sewer pipe and it came with no bolt handle. This by far is the worst rifle from RTI out of 9 I’ve purchased. I would suggest spending the money and get at least a B grade. Im gona clean this one up and try to source parts but it’s not gona be a shooter for sure. All of the issues WHERE stated as possible with C grades so is what it is…I took a chance and lost this time.

I wanted to update my last review but the system will not let me so I’m post another for the same rifle. My C grade 88 90 actually turned out great after cleaning and rebuling. The bore however is shot out so there’s that. I gave a 2 star review which in hindsight isn’t fair to RTI. Every issue my rifle had was stated in the description but RTI has always given me great service and so actually they should earn a rating on that not the condition of the rifle as long as the issues are stated in the description. I have recently ordered a 88 95, shipped and on the way, and this is my 11th rifle from RTI. All of the rifles I have received were in the condition of what was in the description or better except my M95 B grade witch RTI made up for professionally on my next rifle order. You do not and will not get new guns from RTI and I think that needs to be understood when ordering. I’m very pleased with all of my RTI rifles and their customer service!
