Frequently Asked Questions
What caliber is this ammunition?
It is 6.5 Carcano, loaded with a correct .268" diameter projectile for proper bore engagement in Italian Carcano rifles. Bullet diameter matters on Carcano, as standard 6.5mm (.264") bullets do not properly fit the .268" Carcano bore.
What rifles can use this ammunition?
It is designed exclusively for Carcano actions, including the M91 and 91/24. It delivers around 2,150 fps with moderate recoil, suited to these vintage rifles.
Can I use this in a Vetterli 6.5 conversion?
No. This ammunition is not for use in Vetterli conversions. It is designed only for Carcano actions. The 6.5 Carcano-converted Vetterli is a separate rifle with known safety limitations and should not be fired with this ammunition.
Is this ammunition reloadable?
Yes. It is loaded in new PPU brass that is boxer-primed and fully reloadable, making it a good choice for handloaders working with the 6.5 Carcano cartridge.
Is this ammunition corrosive?
No. It uses non-corrosive components and new-production brass, offering modern reliability with historical authenticity.
Why does the .268 bullet diameter matter?
The Carcano bore uses a .268" groove diameter, larger than the standard 6.5mm .264". This ammunition uses a correct .268" cast projectile for proper accuracy and bore engagement, which generic 6.5mm ammo cannot provide.
