5 reviews for 1891 Carcano Bayonet
Ben –
The Bayonet was in surprisingly good condition. No noticeable damage to any of the metal parts, with most of the finish intact. Small amount of damage to the wooden handle, but not enough to actually affect the use of the bayonet. The spring powered clasp for securing the bayonet to the rifle was in perfect working order.
Obviously the bayonet will require cleaning to get off some grime and dirt.
My only complaint was the packaging the bayonet was sent in. It was sent in a large padded mailer, with the bayonet itself wrapped in a thin layer of bubble wrap and tape. The bubble mailer was damaged on arrival, but luckily the bayonet was fine. I honestly expected more care to be given to the packaging.
Overall, very happy with my purchase.

I purchased two. One ended up being what I believe is an Ethiopian parade bayonet as it was chromed in a pattern similar to ways I have seen other African military parade bayonets done. The other was a standard M1889 blade bayonet. Both still had visible Italian markings and no rust or noticeable damage. Good price for the quality!

I bought one of these to go with my 1891 Carcano I also got from RTI. Mine is pretty worn and has no bluing left on it. Markings on the blade are worn and unreadable. I think its possibly a Terni but can’t be positive. The cross guard has clear deep numbers on it “UW1876”. The wood handle has some rough spots but nothing bad. Overall the metal has some minor pitting in places but nothing serious. It attaches well to the rifle and is secure. If the markings had been readable would have gotten 5/5.
On another note I assumed a scabbard came with it. I have no idea why I thought this since its not mentioned or shown but just a little disclaimer that one is not included.

The bayonet I received cleaned up really nice. The metal and wood were in great condition, just needed cleaning! Thank you RTI

A bit bummed as my other rti buys have been good. My bayonet I’d definitely have called B grade. Blade was chipped, thing was coated in some awful fake chrome, and the tip is pretty much round and dull. A friend who also bought one got one with a sharper tip and less chipped blade but the grip is totally shot and the cross guard loose. Both mine and his have such huge barrel rings that they rattle loosely. Had to fill the rings and drill them. After rebluing and oiling mine I’m okay with it, but I would’ve hoped for better with a standard grade.
