We have for sale a Czech VZ24 chambered in 8mm Mauser (7.92×57). This rifle came out of Ethiopia with the other Mausers we imported. This rifle was manufactured in Czechoslovakia originally as a VZ24 with the crest and then subsequently was rebuilt likely around 1946-1948. During the rebuild/rearsenal process, the original VZ24 Czech lion crest was removed and new matching parts were installed. Some parts were force matched to the rifle during the rebuild such as the rear barrel band and the trigger housing. The rifle has a matching floorplate, trigger guard, barrel bands, and buttplate. The bolt is non matching. The metal parts are worn as you can see some of the finish is gone, however there is no major pitting we can see. The bore on this particular rifle appears to be in poor to fair condition, with some rifling visible but very worn. The wood is in good shape, although it will need a thorough cleaning and does have the typical scratches and small dings from usage. The stock is does have a small crack just behind the receiver, but this can be fixed to prevent further splitting. Please note there is also a heavily worn section near the toe of the rifle as shown in the photos.
